I was just wondering is anyone was planning to go to Brittany's Memorial Service and if they were, would they please post pictures of it for those who could not attend.

I can't afford to go, with a $1,000 admission price.

Brittany Murphy's Husband Is Charging Admission for Her Memorial Event, Keeping Things Classy
by Tim Kenneally on Feb. 2, 2010 11:18 AM

You'd better bring your checkbook if you want to honor Brittany Murphy's memory. Us Magazine reports that Murphy's wicked-tasteful widower, Simon Monjack, is asking for donations to attend an event in her honor on Thursday. (Murphy died in December at the age of 32. The results of her toxicology report are still pending.)

The invitation for the event, which will be held at Beverly Hills' Saban Theatre, reads, "Sharon Murphy [Brittany's mother] invites you to celebrate the life of Brittany Murphy." But only, apparently, if you're willing to pony up: Monjack is reportedly suggesting a donation of $1,000 for individuals and $10,000 for corporations.

While the event is, technically, a launch party for the Brittany Murphy Foundation, which will provide arts education to children (Monjack claims to have started the foundation with $1 million of his own money), nobody's too thrilled about Simon exploiting his dead wife's memory to raise cash, according to a source:

"Everyone thinks it's very tacky that he is making it so much about money."

If they think that's tacky, wait'll they see the merchandise booth that Monjack will no doubt have set up. On the plus side, we hear that the Brittany Murphy Memorial Bobblehead Dolls will be priced at a very reasonable $100.

But the memorial has been cancelled, anyway.

Brittany Murphy’s Memorial Gets Canceled For No Known Reason

According to TMZ,  Brittany Murphy’s memorial got mysteriously canceled for no known reason as of right now. They say Brittany Murphy’s husband ,all of a sudden, called off a fundraising party he was throwing in her honor, scheduled for tomorrow night and he won’t give a reason why.

Brittany Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack planned a huge launch party for Thursday night for his new Brittany Murphy Foundation, which is an organization that’s supposed to be dedicated to  arts education for children. Simon had reportedly been soliciting $1,000 donations per person to attend. However, a couple of days before it was supposed to go down, someone called the  Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts and told the Rabbi to put the event on hold because the party is off.

Simon says the party has just been postponed, but hasn’t set any future dates yet. The guest  received emails from someone at the Brittany  Murphy Foundation saying, “So sorry but the memorial has been canceled due to an illness in the family.” Also, Rabbi David Baron said the person who called in to cancel the event, never even gave them their name or a reason. That’s pretty odd.

Uh, I wouldn't be able to afford it either, sadly. I understand that Simon and the family wants people to donate money to the fantastic Brittany Murphy Foundation, to which I've already donated money, but I think that there are many of Britt who wouldn't be able to afford it either. If I should have been there (and if it had been held), I would have had needed to borrow money from my mother (I'm 15).

These types of events are not made with 'the fans' in mind.

I understand that he is trying to raise money, but wouldn't you think that Brittany would want something that her fans could attend? To honor her and say their good-byes? Everything that I've read about her tells me that she appreciated her fans and was very kind to them.

I don't know...it is his decision to make.
